This model illustrates the right coxofemoral joint in a man; various muscles are visible there as well as the distal and proximal muscular insertion zones of the femur and the iliac bone. For didactic purposes, the muscular surfaces of the distal and proximal zones are elevated and colored differently (distal insertion = red; proximal insertion = blue). The various hip muscles are arranged on the respective surfaces of their distal and proximal insertions, which will allow them to be removed.
